How Tall Do Hamster Cages Need ?

Some hamster owners may wonder how tall a hamster cage they need to buy. But in fact, it's the size they need to consider.

How Big is the Hamster Cage to Buy?

There are many types of hamster cages on the market, large and small, luxurious and simple, so how big is the best hamster cage to buy?

Generally, when buying a hamster cage, the size of the hamster cage mainly depends on the size of the hamster. If you have a big hamster or a lot of hamsters, you should buy a larger one.

You can buy a normal wooden hamster cage for a normal size, usually about 35 cm in length. A hamster cage with a width of 25cm and a height of 30cm is ideal.

On the basis of meeting the needs of the hamster's activity space, various equipment can be placed to facilitate the life of the hamster.  If possible, the bigger the hamster cage, the better, preferably a double layer, because hamsters prefer a large space.

What will Happen If the Hamster Cage is Too Small?

When buying a hamster cage, you should try to buy a bigger one. If you buy a small hamster cage, it may have a certain impact on the health of the hamster.

1. For hamsters, although they are domestic pets, they do not like too small spaces. Small spaces do not make them feel safe but make them feel unbearable. Because if the space is too small, hamsters, have limited places to move around, and they have no way to go anywhere they want. And they look forward to such an environment for a long time. In this case, the hamster will become depressed, lethargic, and even die.

2. And the hamster's cage is too small to fit sports facilities such as running wheels. The hamster's body needs a lot of exercises. If the hamster does not exercise, the physical function hamster will decline rapidly, and it is easy to get sick and cause problems.

3. Is the bigger the hamster cage the better? Not exactly.  At home, pet hamsters should have the largest cage possible. The ideal size is the largest cage you can afford and fit in the space of your house. The larger the hamster cage, the more room for the hamster to move around. And the larger the cage, the better you can have fun with your pet hamster by adding more accessories.  But it's not that the bigger the cage, the better. A tall, vertical hamster cage is not worth buying. The hamster cage should be spacious, but it doesn't need to be too tall.
